Block Printing Workshop - Sept 10th - 1pm

About this experience

In this workshop, you will be taught how to design, carve, ink and hand-print their own block print via linocut printmaking without a traditional press. You will learn how to use a carving tool, how to roll out block printing ink and apply it to the block, hand-printing a block onto paper to create a print, and get to experiment with ink and paper. All supplies included, which consist of soft linoleum block, carving tools, ink brayers, block printing ink of multiple colors, baren (for printing) and printmaking paper. You will get to take home your carved block and art prints! This block-printing approach can be used to make stamps, holiday cards, art prints, analog zines, and more. 

Age restrictions: 12 years and older, under 17 must be accompanied by an adult workshop participant.

In the event that the minimum participant threshold is not met, the class will be canceled and a full refund of your fee will be provided.

 

Your Host

Nikita Yogaraj (she/her) is a Baltimore-based South Asian American artist and printmaker specializing in linocut block prints. Her artwork has portrait and botanical themes, with styles building on protest posters and fiction and nonfiction graphical storytelling.
